10+ Tasty Vegan Ice Cream Shops to Try in Berlin

Last updated: May 18, 2024

Before the summer ends rush out and try one (or a few!) of these terrific vegan friendly ice cream shops. All of my personal favorites are on this list, but I’m eager to try more, so let me know where you get your favorite ice cream in Berlin.

Fully Vegan

Green Scoop

Green Scoop is the highest rated fully vegan ice cream shop in Berlin and they certainly live up to the hype! You must try the salted peanut butter, you will not regret it. In fact, you might even return for a second scoop! They have other fun options like waffles, shakes, and coffee. Their ice cream is naturally flavored and colored, stored in metal containers, and made in small batches — everything you could possibly want for high quality ice cream, gelato, and sorbet. They’re also 100% gluten free.

Try: Salted Peanut Butter
Boxhagener Straße 71 | Friedrichshain

Geh Veg

Geh Veg is an excellent spot for sweet and savory breakfasts, and they also absolutely kill it at the ice cream game! They focus on primarily fruity flavors, with a few creamier options like hazelnut. Some of their flavors are incredibly refreshing like their cucumber and lemon variations. I think they’re one of the best vegan spots on the west side, so if you’re in the area be sure to pop in for brunch and dessert.

Try: Fig, Hazelnut
Triftstraße 37 | Moabit

Tribeca

Tribeca offers a creative rotating menu of ice cream in the pretty micro-neighborhood Kollwitzkiez. They’ve since opened up another location in Kreuzberg. It seems like they’ve expanded their offerings since my last visit, now also selling ice cream cookie sandwiches, sundaes, and Spaghettieis. The latter which is a German creation made by an Italian immigrant — ice cream made to look like spaghetti with tomato sauce on it. Plus, a crumble of white chocolate as Parmesan or a sprinkle of pistachio to act as basil. It’s a silly dish, but typically tasty and fun to eat. It’s also hard to find vegan, so there ya go! The Prenzlauer Berg location offers Spaghettieis, but I’m not sure if the Kreuzberg location does.

Try: Banana Pecan, Spaghettieis
Rykestraße 40 | Prenzlauer Berg
Graefestraße 9 | Kreuzberg

Balaram

The first fully plant-based ice cream shop in Berlin had to of course make this list. Their plant-based variety is amazing, plus all their toppings are included in the price. Come earlier in the day to avoid long lines and flavor shortage because they can get quite popular, especially on hot days.

Try: Espresso Hazelnut, Crazy Peanut
Gabriel-Max-Straße 17 | Friedrichshain

Great Vegan Options

Delabuu

Delabuu serves up truly delish rolled ice cream, which you can compliment by adding in a number of mix-ins that will undoubtedly amplify your ice cream experience. You can pick from one of their ice cream combos or design your own for a fully customized treat. All of their ice cream is vegan, although not all of their mix-ins are, but the vegan ones are clearly labeled.

Try: Peanut Booster, Design your own mix in!
Krossener Straße 15 | Friedrichshain
Tauentzienstraße 21-24 (KaDeWe) | Charlottenburg
Alte Potsdamer Straße 7 (The Playce) | Mitte

Katchi

Katchi is a lovely choice. My favorites here are a toss up between Sticky Coco and Pink Aperol. This is some of the creamiest dairy-free ice cream I’ve ever had. They switch up their flavor combos regularly so you’ll have to see what’s available when you visit, but everything I’ve tried is fantastic. I also appreciate their commitment to using pure natural flavors and no artificial ingredients. The Charlottenburg location will typically also sell bubble waffles which are vegan, as are most of the topping options. They’re so good! Their Charlottenburg parlor has several seating options, but their Mitte location is smaller with limited seating.

Try: Sticky Coco, Pink Aperol
Grolmanstraße 14a | Charlottenburg
Oranienburger Straße 89 | Mitte

Scrolls Garden

For fresh and naturally flavored rolled ice cream you can personalize with toppings and syrups, give Scrolls Garden a try! They also have some pre-designed rolled ice cream combos if you need help deciding. Plus, waffles, shakes, and crepes.

Try: Berlin Gardens

Rosa Canina

Rosa Canina serves up rich and fresh ice cream, both plant-based and otherwise. There’s always a new flavor to discover here and the quality has been consistently great for me. They’re a fully organic shop and each ingredient is hand-picked by their team in order to find the ensure the best possible quality for their small batch creamery. There are five locations in Berlin, in the neighborhoods Kreuzberg, Prenzlauer Berg, and Mitte. I typically visit their Kreuzberg parlor, which is inside of Markthalle Neun, one of Berlin’s best food halls. Their serving size at the Kreuzberg location tends to serve really generous scoops as well — the photo below is two scoops!

Try: Basil Raspberry, Black Sesame

Hufelandstraße 7 | Prenzlauer Berg
Pasteurstraße 32 | Prenzlauer Berg
Raumerstraße 8 | Prenzlauer Berg

Oak & Ice

Find quality fruity plant-based ice cream here. They’ve got some nice harder to find flavors like rhubarb, guava, and carrot, as well as some rich options like their dark chocolate. Yum!

Try: Dark Chocolate, Rhubarb
Schönhauser Allee 52 | Prenzlauer Berg

Duo

This Sicilian ice cream shop has become crazy popular over the years, their Kreuzberg location tends to consistently have a line on sunny days. Although I think they could still expand their plant-based flavors much more, the vegan flavors they do offer are really tasty and thoughtfully made. I recommend getting a double scoop of Hazelnut and Shalia (chocolate, fig, almond). Their gluten free and sugar free flavors are also clearly labeled.

Try: Hazelnut
Skalitzer Straße 82 | Kreuzberg
Käthe-Niederkirchner-Straße 24 | Prenzlauer Berg
Gabriel-Max-Straße 11 | Friedrichshain
Bürknerstraße 13 | Neukölln

Mado

While Mado might primarily be a Turkish breakfast restaurant serving majority non-vegan options, I think they’re worth a mention for their traditional Turkish ice cream Dondurma. This ice cream is made with (in this case vegan) cream, salep (orchid flour), mastic (tree resin), and sugar. The mixture is battered and the end result is a uniquely chewy texture that is malleable and resistant to melting, and the taste is sweet with a hint of deeper savoriness So if you’re looking to try something new this summer give them a visit! Ask for a vegan Dondurma with their bitter chocolate, black mulberry, and vanilla flavors. They’ll serve it with a sprinkle of crushed pistachio and if you’d like you can add on a side of sweet jam or sauce to enhance the flavors even more.
