Where to Find the Best Vegan Desserts in Berlin

Last updated: November 17, 2024

Craving something sweet in Berlin? Maybe a scoop of vegan ice cream or a dairy free pastry? This guide lists some of the absolute tastiest desserts you can find in Berlin and bonus: they’re all plant-based friendly.

Every eatery mentioned here has been tried and tested by yours truly, and the eateries tagged with ‘🌱’ are fully plant-based establishments. If you have a recommendation I’ve missed, please comment below! For now, enjoy these delicious vegan-friendly spots.

The Sanctuary🌱

A classic Sicilian bakery with a plant-based twist! From the chocolate cornettos to the focaccia sprinkled with salsiccia: everything has an equally scrumptious plant-based alternative. They are in a small space so there’s just a handful of available seating, but if you want to linger a little longer you can always join in on one of their Sicilian kitchen plant-based workshops. Their little bakery aims to ‘bring traditional Italian artisanal baking a step forward.’ I highly recommend the focaccia, particularly the salsiccia version, but my favorite sweet treat has to be their charcoal, white chocolate, and raspberry cornetto.

Try: Maritozzo Pistacchio
Torstraße 175 | Mitte
Malmöer Straße 13 | Prenzlauer Berg

Frea Bakery

Frea is a great spot on this list. Unfortunately, they are no longer 100% plant-based, but they’re fully vegetarian, low-waste, and locally sourced. Food scraps and any single-use items are composted on-site, turned into fertilizer, and returned to their local suppliers.

Their homemade baked goods are so delectable! For a classic pastry try their vanilla Spandauer or cardamom bun. If you’re craving something a little less sweet I recommend their marzipan poppy seed twist. Their baked goods are fully plant-based, but their mains are vegan and vegetarian.

Try: Spandauer
Gartenstraße 9 | Mitte

Round & Edgy🌱

Ooey gooey New York-style cookies in Berlin. Soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, and just downright delicious. You’ll find lots of creative choices, as well as equally amazing classic cookies like chocolate chip garnished with a sprinkle of sea salt. Plus, other decadent items like their salted caramel banana pudding, which is a summer specialty!

Try: Choco Chunk Sea Salt , Salted Caramel Banana Pudding
Rochstraße 3 | Mitte
Maybachufer 21 | Kreuzberg
Tauentzienstraße 21-24 (KaDeWe) | Charlottenburg

Velicious Cafe🌱

With freshly cut flowers on the tables and cheery service from the staff, this quaint café is a sweet spot to get your Kaffee und Kuchen on. Might I suggest their peanut chocolate banana torte? It’s delicious! Most (if not all?) of their cakes are gluten-free too!

Try: Peanut Chocolate Banana Torte
Bundesallee 118 | Friedenau

Doughnut Time

These donuts are more on the pricier side, but they’re also delicious, fun, and fresh. Their shop has plenty of vegan options, in fact, the majority of their pastries are vegan! I’ve tried quite a few at this point so it’s hard to narrow down my favorite picks, but I can say apple cheesecake and raspberry cheesecake are very high up there for me. The apple filling is a nice mix of sweet and sour, plus the swirly frosting on top really brings the whole donut together. As for the raspberry cheesecake, the filling is tart and fresh, and beautifully encased in a classic powdered donut. Their Oreo donut gets an honorable mention too. Yum!

Try: Powdered Raspberry/Raspberry Cheesecake, Apple Cheesecake
Weinbergsweg 24 | Mitte
Panoramastraße, Alexanderplatz 1A | Mitte

All these donuts are vegan!

Green Scoop🌱

They’re Berlin’s best-rated vegan ice cream shop for a reason! Visit when it’s warm and give their salty peanut butter, banana, pistachio, or matcha flavors a try. Add some caramel and chocolate on top free of charge!

Try: Salty Peanut Butter
Boxhagener Straße 71 | Friedrichshain

Soi & Co.🌱

For gourmet intricate cakes, Soi & Co. is your place. They have plenty of unique and decadent cake offerings, including a handful of gluten-free options. The delicious pastries they manage to make out of plain tofu are incredible! Plus, sweet drinks like their nutty black sesame latte.

Try: Matcha Pistachio Cake
Linienstraße 205 | Mitte

Tribeca🌱

Tribeca offers a creative rotating menu of ice cream in the pretty neighborhood of Kollwitzkiez. They’ve got a second location in Kreuzberg now! I’ve tried their chai and lemon poppy seed flavors and liked both. They also serve ice cream sandwiches!

Try: Lemon poppy seed
Rykestraße 40 | Prenzlauer Berg
Graefestraße 9 | Kreuzberg

Coco Cup

Heard of chè? It’s a Vietnamese dessert that can be served in soup, pudding, or beverage form. It’s sweet, gelatinous, and served over ice, making it an excellent summertime treat. After choosing your base (either chè or tea) head on over to their toppings bar where you can add in your choice of toppings. It’s hard to go wrong here, so I’m sure your end result will be delicious (so long as you skip the durian)! The entire toppings bar is conveniently vegan, as is the chè. Coco Cup is also home to Vietnamese dishes like bánh mì and other forms of Viet street food, but those vegan options are not quite as plentiful.

Try: Chè
Dircksenstraße 37 | Mitte

Cinnamood

Cinnamood is home to pretty tasty vegan cinnamon rolls in Berlin. I’ve tried their blueberry, apple, and biscoff variations, and I am sold! All the buns were soft and chewy and packed with flavor. Their blueberry version was my favorite, it had just the right amount of sweetness.

Try: Blueberry Vegan Roll
Oranienburger Straße 8 | Mitte

Café Neundrei

I have been absolutely sleeping on Café Neundrei’s vegan game. Although a wee bit pricier, they’ve got plenty of delicious goodies on stock including a variety of cakes — everything from pistachio chocolate cheesecake to strawberry passionfruit mousse. The cheesecake I had was super creamy, but the pistachio ‘crookie’ was what really stole my heart. Get there before 13:00 on weekends to still have a solid cake selection, but the pastries and cookies seem to be available most of the day.

Try: Pistachio Crookie
Monbijouplatz 2 | Mitte

Mansfield Park🌱

Stop in for a dreamy and delicious cake at this fully vegan coffee and cake shop. If you’re looking to get a cake for a special occasion, this is a stellar spot.

Try: Pistachio Raspberry Torte
Kiautschoustraße 1 | Wedding

Bekarei

Here you can find incredible vegan Pastéis de Nata. They manage to make a lovely version of these pastries that are egg-free and deeply delicious. I can’t get enough of them! My Portuguese friend introduced me to this bakery after raving that they’re her favorite Portuguese spot in the city.

Try: Pastel de Nata
Dunckerstraße 23 | Prenzlauer Berg

Sakura🌱

Sakura focuses on using mainly seasonal, local, and organic ingredients. Their cheesecake is a nice choice.

Try: Cheesecake
Tieckstraße 8 | Mitte

Blumental

All the cakes at Blumental are vegan. They carry banana bread and carrot cake every day (while supplies last) and additionally offer a variety of delightful daily cakes with flavors like coffee cardamom, chocolate raspberry, and lemon poppy seed.

Try: Kaffee Kardamom
Engeldamm 64 | Mitte

Brammibal’s🌱

Brammibal’s is undoubtedly the most well-known vegan dessert spot in Berlin. Maybe even the most well-known plant-based establishment in the city in general. With six locations, creative marketing, unique recipes, and a cult following, they’re a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth. After trying these donuts probably close to a dozen times over the past few years I have to say: they are worth the hype. I almost always order one of their seasonal specialties, but my favorite classic donuts of theirs are probably white chocolate with strawberries or salted caramel. But again, I’m a seasonal specialty kind of gal.

Try: White Chocolate with Strawberries, Seasonal Specialties
Prenzlauer Berg | Friedrichshain | Kreuzkölln | Alexanderplatz | Potsdamer Platz | KaDeWe

Chimneys🌱

Heard of Trdelník? Nicknamed chimney cakes, this Hungarian dessert can be found at Chimneys in Berlin. They go past the classic sugar and spice rub and offer chimney cakes with a wide variety of toppings, fillings, and dough. I’m not as big of a fan of their soft serve ice cream, and prefer their classic cakes that are served with just the topping they’re rolled in.

Try: Brittle Classic Chimney Cake
Brunnenstraße 173 | Mitte
Warschauer Straße 81 | Friedrichshain
Tauentzienstraße 21-24 (KaDeWe) | Charlottenburg

That Pink Café (Nothaft Sister Café)

This lightly adorned café is home to a harmonious setting featuring vintage furniture, a muted green palette, and relaxed embellishments, including scattered potted plants and a classic wooden chess board. The whole café is laptop-friendly, and you’ll find varied seating options like a large central table and single-person classroom-style desks. The space is quite airy and as a result, can be chilly in the colder months.

I’ve liked all the food and drinks I’ve had here. The vegan avocado sandwich is creamy and full-flavored, the chai latte is generously poured, and the pastries are mostly plant-based and so tasty. My favorites are between their Raspberry Danish, pistachio croissant, and raspberry croissant, but they also have tasty looking banana and matcha breads that are also plant-based.

Try: Raspberry Danish, Pistachio Croissant
Schwarzastraße 9 | Neukölln

Delabuu

Delabuu serves up truly delish rolled ice cream, which you can complement by adding in a number of mix-ins that will undoubtedly amplify your ice cream experience. You can pick from one of their ice cream combos or design your own for a fully customized treat. All of their ice cream is vegan, although not all of their mix-ins are, but the vegan ones are clearly labeled.

Try: Peanut Booster, Design your own mix-in!
Krossener Straße 15 | Friedrichshain
Tauentzienstraße 21-24 (KaDeWe) | Charlottenburg
Alte Potsdamer Straße 7 (The Playce) | Mitte

Sammy’s Donuts

Sammy’s is a creative donut shop with excellent vegan options. So far I’ve tried their strawberry pistachio and Oreo donut, and I’m eager to try more. Their café latte and cherry rice pudding flavors look especially interesting. They also have more classic donuts available like pink sprinkles and glazed filled with jam. Also vegan, of course.

Try: Lotus Biscoff
Sophienstraße 30-31 | Mitte
Rosenthaler Straße 4 | Mitte
Arminiusstraße 2-4 (Arminius Markthalle) | Moabit

Scrolls Garden

For fresh and naturally flavored rolled ice cream you can personalize with toppings and syrups, give Scrolls Garden a try! They also have some pre-designed rolled ice cream combos if you need help deciding. Plus, waffles, shakes, and crepes.

Try: Berlin Gardens
Gleimstraße 26 | Prenzlauer Berg

Dat Cookie🌱

Dat Cookie is a cookie shop specializing in soft chewy cookies. They’re the kind that could potentially be baked for longer, but I personally enjoy that chewy taste. I’d compare them to Crumbl Cookies in the US, but I actually like Dat Cookie more because I find the cookies to be much less heavy and sweet than Crumbl. Plus, they’re vegan!

Try: Apple Pie Cookie
Rosenthaler Straße 36 (Within Rosenhöfe) | Mitte

Balaram🌱

The first fully plant-based ice cream shop in Berlin had to of course make this list. Their plant-based variety is amazing, plus all their toppings are included in the price. Come earlier in the day to avoid long lines and flavor shortages because they can get quite popular, especially on hot days. They also have the best Spaghettieis in town, be sure to add some candied hazelnuts from their mini toppings bar!

Try: Crazy Peanut, Spaghettieis
Gabriel-Max-Straße 17 | Friedrichshain

Calm Coffee🌱

Calm Coffee first started serving vegan cinnamon rolls during the pandemic, and their variety and creativity have only grown since. Each week they roll out four flavors, typically boasting a little seasonal flair. The raspberry roll is especially delicious and the biscoff version is a close second. There are so many more I want to try! I’ll have to make a trip over when I see their birthday cake or pumpkin flavors available.

Try: Raspberry Cinnamon Roll
Wühlischstraße 38 | Friedrichshain

Geh Veg🌱

Geh Veg is an excellent spot for sweet and savory breakfasts, and they also absolutely kill it at the ice cream game! They focus on primarily fruity flavors, with a few creamier options like hazelnut. Some of their flavors are incredibly refreshing like their cucumber and lemon variations. I think they’re one of the best vegan spots on the west side, so if you’re in the area be sure to pop in for brunch and dessert.

Try: Savory Breakfast
Triftstraße 37 | Wedding
