The Best Brunch Spots in Kreuzberg, Berlin
Last updated: September 25, 2024
Kreuzberg might just be my favorite neighborhood in Berlin when it comes to food. Kreuzberg is one of the most culturally diverse areas of the city, from inviting roasteries in Bergmannkiez to homely Turkish bakeries steps from Moritzplatz. Let’s get into brunch!

Two Trick Pony
At long last I finally made it to Two Trick Pony, after years of having it on my to-eat list. The food is of fantastic quality and exceptionally tasty. The atmosphere is cozy and quaint, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. If you happen to be there around the holidays do try their Christmas sandwich, it’s incredible. Potentially a top three brunch spot for me!
Try: Scramble and Herbs

Albatross
I feel like I'm always craving something from Albatross. This small bakery has plenty to choose from, and don’t worry if there’s a line, they bake their goods throughout the day. Hungry first-time visitors should get something classic (opt for a croissant or sourdough roll), something sweet (you could try their Queen A or flaky crème brûlée), something savory (maybe a feta tomato Danish or ham and cheese croissant), and a mix of sweet and savory (an apple cheese danish, for example).
The last time I visited I tried their orange fennel loaf and it might be my new favorite pastry there. It’s so hard to decide. Bring a friend to share your tasty treasures with or take your leftovers to go. The only bummer is there is no proper seating here (just a long bench outside the bakery), but you can always take your baked goods home or head over to a nearby green space like Wrangelbrunnen, Urbanhafen, Zickenplatz, or Volkspark Hasenheide.
The options are endless — visit soon!

Café Strauss
Here you can enjoy a peaceful café located in a local cemetery. Sound strange? Maybe a little, but the result is a really wonderful tranquil, and reflective space where you're free to start your day with a cup of coffee, a warm quiche, and a slice of cake. Perfect for a cozy, light, and lazy breakfast. Be sure to have a stroll around the cemetery afterwards.
Try: Quiche

19grams
Founded in 2002, this sweet OG specialty coffee and brunch spot is an excellent place to get your day going. I’ve only tried a Reuben Sandwich and flat white so far, and I was more than satisfied. Their Reuben was expertly paired with crunchy housemade carrot sourdough, Swiss Gruyère cheese, remoulade, pickle, and sauerkraut. Their Bubble and Squeak Benedict also looked absolutely delicious. There are three other 19grams cafés in Berlin, but this location has the best menu. Plus, they accept reservations!

Barcomi’s
Enjoy all things carbs at Barcomi's: from bagels to breads to cake! Plus, spreads and in-house-roasted coffee. Their garlic bagel is a must! I like to enjoy mine with cream cheese and mixed greens. Perfect if you're in the neighborhood and craving bagels or NY-style cheesecake.
Try: New York Cheesecake, Garlic bagel
Bergmannstraße 21 | €-€€
Hallesches Haus
Hallesches Haus is worth the visit just for the atmosphere! The interior is both airy and industrial, and the general store is too cute, I especially like the skincare sold there. I typically prefer their pastries to their entrees, but on my last visit I tried an epic house brunch filled with organic and fresh ingredients, and an equally good granola plate, so I think I’m an all-around fan now. Their menu is seasonal so there’s always something new to try. Keep in mind that weekday and weekend brunch offers a totally different menu.

Bakery & Coffee
Although there are many Turkish cafés in Berlin where you can get reasonably priced and tasty baked goods, Bakery & Coffee is my favorite. It’s not the fanciest café, but it has a lot of heart and is such a hidden gem. The staff is so sweet and the homemade Turkish bread is incredible. You’ll find plenty of incredible Turkish pastries here for €1.50 to €4 each. My favorite has to be their potato or meat gözleme. They’re both really hearty and absolutely delicious. My partner, Dan, typically goes for a cheesy item like their cheese and spinach börek. Their lahmacun is on the smaller side, but also very good and just €1.50. Be sure to pair your breakfast with a Turkish tea for €1.50.
Try: Potato Gözleme, Lahmacun

Belle Alliance
For tasty brunch along Mehringdamm, look no further than the lively and lovely Belle Alliance. Their Eggs Benny plate is a memorable one, topped with a generous serving of prosciutto and a dollop of homemade hollandaise sauce. Pair it with a glass of fresh housemade orange juice and enjoy your flavorful quality brunch.
Try: Eggs Benedict

A.Horn
The bagel sandwiches here are good! You’re guaranteed a treat with anything you order, but I really enjoy their goat cheese and honey version, and my partner typically orders the pastrami bagel. I think the bagels are quite pricey (€12+ for most of them), but as mentioned, it’s a nice treat. Their outdoor seating is sweet in the summer, but I prefer to get a bagel and coffee to go and sit along the Landwehr Canal. There are typically kayaks for rent in that corner too, if you’re looking for a little adventure after breakfast.
Try: The Goat, The New Yorker

The Visit Coffee Roastery
I’m a fan of The Visit for coworking and I finally got around to trying their brunch offerings. I recommend their open-faced egg drop sandwich! It’s pretty good, and equal parts savory and satiating. I also like their shakshuka and their poppy seed cake with cream cheese frosting is also nice, albeit a bit rich. Their coffee is also very good and roasted in-house. I like ordering an iced flat white in the warmer months. There’s also plenty of seating and people are always passing through so it’s a superb spot if you want to avoid a line for brunch.

Annelies
The sister cafe to Distrikt Coffee in Mitte, Annelies is nice for anyone looking to have a scrumptious and decadent brunch in Kreuzberg. Their pancakes are fluffy and covered with maple-berry syrup, granola, and cultured cream. You experience a bit of a sugar rush afterwards if you’re past the ripe ole age of 25 (partially kidding, but I did get a sugar rush so. . .). As a savory gal, I prefer their sausage egg cheese sandwich which kind of tastes like a lavish version of a Sausage Egg McMuffin.

La Maison
La Maison is a tranquil little spot along the canal where you can find a shady terrace, stellar French pastries, and a picturesque atmosphere. You’ll find plenty of pastries, soups, salads, quiches, and sandwiches. On the weekends you’ll additionally find goodies like brioche sandwiches and more types of tartes and cake. They also have an impressive amount of plant-based baked goods, the vegan raspberry Danish I tried at their Paul-Lincke location was amazing. Get there early on Saturdays and Sundays to get your pick of treats and easily find a spot.
More recently they opened up a boutique location, but on a warm day (or with proper clothing) I’ll always prefer their original spot.

Café Mugrabi
Café Mugrabi is a great place to enjoy the sun and have your pick of classic Levant-style breakfasts like sabich, shakshuka, and hummus. I had a very hearty and tasty sabich plate the last time I visited and it was paired with a pita that was warm and fresh from the oven. It was a lovely way to start my weekend!

Good Morning Monday
I’ve just had a coffee and pastry here, but enjoyed both. Although I can’t make a proper recommendation for brunch quite yet, I will say friends and colleagues who have visited have highly recommended the cheese plate, vegan breakfast plate, and pancakes. Everything looks downright decadent! They take the time to thoughtfully plate their dishes too, which is nice. I believe they also offer bagels, but only to go.

Le Bon
Le Bon is one of the only spots in the city I know of that offer hash browns, but they’re not served traditionally, more so in a cube-like shape. I honestly found it and the Eggs Benedict plate, in general, to be just okay. There are tons of raving reviews online though so perhaps it’s just not to my taste. The shakshuka, on the other hand, was pretty good so I’d imagine there are more tasty dishes available there. The service is also courteous.

Frühstück 3000
Frühstück 3000 carries a lot of hype. It’s one of the priciest brunch spots in Berlin, with most dishes ranging from €14 to €22, and also pretty well-known in the city for being a solid treat-yourself kind of place. It was on my list to visit for years, but I found it to be overall a bit underwhelming.
To start with the good, the kimchi grilled cheese was so yummy! Rich and flavorful, it was a tasty dish to share. The Chicken 3000 was also nice enough, perhaps a 7/10. It involves a cheddar waffle, fried chicken, chili bacon caramel, and an herb salad. The French toast with rhubarb, however, I was not at all a fan of and it pained me to pay €18 for it. This is coming from someone who loves the taste of rhubarb! This dish changes seasonally so a different flavor combo could be better.

Still On My List:
Fourty Years Kitchen
This brunch spot is located in one of my favorite parts of Kreuzberg. I’d like to give them a try!
