Where to Find the Best Brunch in Friedrichshain, Berlin
Last updated: September 25, 2024
Friedrichshain can’t be forgotten when discussing brunch in Berlin. Although this neighborhood is most well-known for its rich history, hipster crowd, and assortment of techno clubs and grungy bars, their breakfast game is honestly just as abundant and enjoyable. Nothing quite beats a morning leisurely roaming and brunching in this east-side kiez. Here are a few of the best spots in the neighborhood.

Faves
Faves is home to what is likely the thriftiest egg drop in Berlin, but you wouldn’t know it by the quality! The classic version is pretty tasty and makes for a very pleasant brunch. They offer some fun versions as well, including a feta and sucuk version that results in a perfectly salty and savory sandwich. You’ll also find some nice Levantine tapas here for fair prices! I recommend giving their hummus a try.
Try: Feta & Sucuk Egg Drop, Classic Egg Drop

Lemon Feinkost
Enjoy an excellent Turkish breakfast in a warm setting. Grab a friend and try a little bit of everything including their gözleme, manti, and menemen.

Founded in 2002, this sweet OG specialty coffee and brunch spot is an excellent place to start your day. I’ve only tried a Reuben Sandwich and flat white so far, and I was more than satisfied.
At their Kreuzberg location, I liked their Reuben was expertly paired with crunchy housemade carrot sourdough, Swiss Gruyère cheese, remoulade, pickle, and sauerkraut. Their Bubble and Squeak Benedict also looks absolutely delicious. I believe their F’Hain location offers fewer weekday options but serves weekend brunch.

Fine Bagels
If you're looking for a casual and cute bagel breakfast in the neighborhood this is the place! You have a variety of spreads, bagel types, and other toppings to choose from, plus a selection of pre-designed combinations. You can also enjoy your bagel with a pastry, tea, coffee, or fresh juice. Afterwards, check out their sweet English language bookstore.

Silo Coffee
This bustling breakfast spot prides itself in its Aussie roots and coffee culture. If you’re a fan of flat whites, you’re in for a treat! Give ‘The Silo’ a try, it comes with sourdough, eggs, bacon, avocado, roast potatoes, homemade ketchup, and herbs.

44 Brekkie
The brioche sandwich bar that took Prenzlauer Berg by storm has recently opened its second eatery, this time in Friedrichshain. Their sandwiches are truly mouthwatering. I’m a big fan of their garlic, double cheese, and bacon combo, but I think I’ll try their salmon and capers version next. A must-visit for egg and brioche lovers!
Try: Egg Drop Sandwich

Bagelmann Café
This friendly little neighborhood spot is sure to satisfy your bagel desires. The bagel sandwiches here are top-notch: high-quality ingredients, fair prices, chewy and crispy bagels, and solid variety. The Alaska Bagel is quite the treat, but you really can’t go wrong here.
Try: Egg Bacon Bagel, Cream Cheese Bagel
Neue Bahnhofstraße 30 | €-€€
KLEiNES SONNTAG
This little breakfast café features a mix of nutritious and indulgent options. Opt for a flakey croissant or an avocado toast — whatever you fancy! I’ve visited once and got to try their avocado lachs toast. It was topped with thinly sliced radishes, sprouts, and a lemony mustard dressing. Delicious!

Tucker Brunch Bar
Tucker Brunch Bar serves up quality classic brunch dishes and does them very well. There is a clear lively and homey atmosphere as soon as you pop in, and the food is as tasty as the staff is friendly. Their cocktails can be pricier, but they’re a nice treat if you're looking for a boozy brunch. They also sometimes host drag brunches on weekends. They do tend to be quite busy on weekends, so reservations or an early arrival is recommended.
Try: Eggs Benny, Dirty Brekky Nachos
Wühlischstraße 1 | €€
Macondo
What a cozy place to enjoy a Latin American brunch. I’ve only tried their empanadas so far, but they were so good that I’m eager to go back soon and try a proper breakfast plate. I’m thinking chilaquiles!
Try: Carne Molida Empanadas
Gärtnerstraße 14 | €-€€
Wochenmarkt Boxi
If you’re in F-Hain on a Saturday (anytime from 9 AM to 3 PM) and are feeling peckish head on over to the weekly food and grocery market at Boxhagener Platz. Make your way around the stalls and try a few items for the perfect mish-mashed breakfast. I never realized how much incredible food Boxi Market had until recently, but you can easily spend a whole afternoon here test-tasting the stalls, watching live music, and shopping for trinkets. There’s sooo much good stuff here, from grilled cheese to gözleme to empanadas! I think my favorite prepared food stall is either the grilled meat stall on Krossener Straße (get the sliced skewered pork with garlicky pickle salad) or the Latin American sandwich spot on Gärtnerstraße which has an excellent cheesy and spicy sub.
The strawberries at the fruit stand on Boxhagener Platz are also delicious, and so is the Käsekuchen sold at Oma’s bakery. If you need a moment to rest your legs from doing rounds around the square you can head to the center and chill on the grass, get a glass of wine at Macondo, or try some vegan Spaghettieis at Balaram.
Try: Anything!
