13 of the Best Vegan Brunch Spots in Berlin

Last updated: October 1, 2024

Although just about every breakfast place in Berlin will offer some kind of vegan option (it is known as the vegan capital of Europe, after all), if you’re looking for an abundance of plant-based brekkie plates, you’re in the right place. These spots have some of the best brunch food in Berlin (vegan or otherwise) so grab a pal and get to brunching!

All of these spots are vegetarian with plentiful vegan options, and fully vegan spots are indicated with a ‘🌱.’

Trivitys 🌱

If you enjoy plant-based cheese, Trivitys is the place. The only place in Berlin that competes is probably Alaska Bar. When visiting Trivitys, definitely get their cheese plate which comes with three squares of spreadable cheese, cream cheese, nutritional yeast, red beet spread, fresh salad, and homemade bread. Take your time at this relaxing café, and be sure to try one of their pastries as well. I also hear great things about their egg salad! Plus, Trivitys is not only fully vegan, they’re also fully gluten and added sugar-free.

Sfera 🌱

Visit Sfera for creative and thoughtful dishes. They’re a fully vegan spot which is especially impressive if you check out their uber creamy pastries, fanciful savory mains, and buttery carbs. There’s sooo much I’d love to try here so I’m planning on returning ASAP. Their French toast is served with baked peaches, chai cream, blackberries, and tarragon (unreal!).

Brocca Café

This warm and bright café is nestled at the corner of a charming cross street in Prenzlauer Berg. You’ll find plenty of vegan options including a variety of cakes, bagels, and granola plates. Their cashew cheese and veggie bagel hit the spot, and I’d like to try the carrot lox one on another visit. I also like their veggie and glass noodle bao bun. Prices are quite fair.

Cafe Neue Liebe 🌱

For a colorful and nutritious meal, head on over to Cafe Neue Liebe. Their plates are balanced and delicious. Most dishes feature plenty of veggies with some unique touches like plant-based versions of egg salad or feta. If you’re feeling hungrier go for the Vegan Liebe Platter to try a little bit of everything. Or split it with a friend if you’re more in a snacky mood. Many of their plates can also be made to be gluten-free for a surcharge. They were a vegetarian café for a long time, but I do believe they are fully vegan now.

Mana 🌱

This fully plant-based restaurant does all the classic vegan breakfast specialties quite well, including ‘eggy’ tofu scrambles, carrot lachs, pancakes, and overnight oats. Their eggy plate is tasty and very unique compared to most vegan egg dishes I’ve had, it tastes very similar to a traditional creamy egg salad. Their dishes can be pricier, but c'est la vie.

Lucy’s

Lucy’s has two sweet health food cafés in Mitte, just down the street from one another. I’ve only been to the Torstraße location, but I had a good time trying their ‘pick three’ salad dish. You can also just pick one salad as a side if you’re less hungry. They have rotating daily options for this particular dish so you can try an array of fantastic combos depending on when you visit. If they happen to have their potato tahini salad on offer when you visit be sure to try that one! Typically all their salads are vegan, but you have the option of adding vegetarian toppings like feta. You’ll also find smoothies, juices, mixed veggie toasts, proper brunch, and more. Their dressed banana bread is a nourishing choice, although it does taste a bit healthy, if you know what I mean.

Radikalecher 🌱

This homey vegan café has plenty of moreish dishes including bagels, waffles, scrambled tofu, porridge, and cakes. It’s such a sweet spot and the price-to-quality ratio is top-notch!

Blumental

Blumental is a fully vegetarian café with about a 90% vegan menu. This is a beautiful café filled with natural light, a spacious interior, a well-thought-out color palette, and healthy dishes. Just about any of their entrees will get you halfway to your 5 a Day, and I can particularly recommend their fennel, apricot, olive tapenade, and sourdough plate (trust me it works) or their pea guacamole and carrot on toasted sourdough dish. Plus, they have plenty of scrumptious plant-based cakes to balance out your meal. They also pride themselves in being a low-waste joint, and this is made possible through their mighty composting machine Berta which takes care of their organic waste in the back of the café.

Geh Veg 🌱

This cute vegan café has no shortage of nice starts to the day. I like their savory Frühstuck plate which comes with tempeh, spreads, vegetables, and bread. They also offer a sweet version which comes with seasonal spreads, margarine, fruit, yogurt, a croissant, and bread roll. They additionally have smaller breakfast plates like pancakes and porridge. In the summertime they sell ice cream and milkshakes, both delicious!

EasyPeasy 🌱

This women-owned brunch spot is not just vegan, it’s also gluten free! Their portions are very hearty and they offer a mix of savory and sweet breakfasts. You’ll find many classic vegan breakfast dishes here like tofu scrambles, carrot lachs on toast, and acai bowls. You can even a few CBD drops to your meal if you fancy! They also have a few little cakes for sale, but I was only a fan of their NY cheesecake variation.

Froindlichst 🌱

Froindlichst is home to sweet cakes, full breakfast plates, and yummy lunches — all vegan. They offer plates like full English breakfasts, breakfast burgers, chickpea omelettes, and French toast. I’ve tried their Brettfest plate before which offers a little bit of a few of their popular dishes and it was overall okay, I enjoy their lunch plates more though. It’s a bit of a pricier spot, but worth visiting at least once. I’d love to revisit and try their breakfast burger at some point!

Vux 🌱

Vux is a cute local café serving specialty coffee, smoothies, bagels, sandwiches, bao, and more. They also offer plenty of cake! The service is also super sweet which helps make this spot one of the most charming neighborhood cafés in Berlin.

Wipperstraße 14 | Neukölln

Frea

This bakery is zero-waste, locally sourced, and fully vegetarian (formerly fully vegan). Their baked goods should still be fully plant-based, but their mains are half vegan, half vegetarian. Their Spandauer with vanilla crème is especially amazing, and their poppy seed and marzipan twist is perfect if you don’t like overly sweet pastries. Their house breakfast is also tasty and nice to split between two people. It includes croissants, brioche, brötchen, butter, spreads, fresh and cooked vegetables, and hummus.

Prince Peach 🌱

I have yet to visit Prince Peach, but I want to include them because they’ve set up shop in the space that once was home to one of Berlin’s best vegan cafés, Plant Base (which sadly closed its doors in September 2024). Not only are they in their space, but they’ve chosen to go the route of having a fully plant-based menu. Plus, they’ve even adopted some of Plant Base’s recipes like their iconic scrambled tofu bagels. With all this in mind, they’re sure to be great. I’m looking forward to visiting them soon and giving them a try!
