Town Mouse

Town Mouse is a sweet spot that cheese and bread lovers will get a kick out of. Their cheese and mouse theme is adorable, I especially appreciate the painted mouse on their glass wall and that all their cheese plates are called ‘mouse traps.’ The Breakfast Bread I tried was very tasty, complete with toasted sourdough bread, tomatoes, Emmentaler cheese, green onions, and Dijon. The coffee and cookies are also delish! It’s hard not to have a good time at this friendly neighborhood spot.

SPRO

I think most of my blog readers already know how much I love SPRO, but in case it wasn't clear, SPRO is my favorite coffee shop in Berlin. Small and cozy, and full of character, with the kind of charm that makes me revisit again and again. With passionate people and high-quality beans, you’re guaranteed a nice time with any kind of caffeinated drink you get here. Scones are their specialty, so try one of their scone plates (the Norwegian is a real treat) and save room for a pastry or two! All of their pastries are amazing, but anything with berries or cheesecake-based really makes me swoon.

Tell them I sent you!

Café Eggrything

Cafe Eggrything is a newer bite-sized brunch spot that serves egg drop sandwiches, sweet croffles, and creative drinks. Their Bulgogi egg drop gets two thumbs up from me! It was hearty and quite fresh. Their vegan egg drop was satisfying and so flavorful, but they were out of vegan brioche when I visited so it was more of a mushroom and baby greens sandwich on sourdough than an egg drop. There was also nothing to replace the eggy part so that was also a bit less interesting. I will give them props for having a plant-based option though!

As for their croffles, I can recommend their Oreo creme variation; their pistachio strawberry take also looks divine.

EasyPeasy

This women-owned brunch spot is not just 100% vegan, it’s also fully gluten-free! Their portions are very hearty and they offer a mix of savory and sweet breakfasts. You’ll find many classic vegan breakfast dishes here like tofu scrambles, carrot lachs on toast, and acai bowls. You can even a few CBD drops to your meal if you fancy! They also have a few little cakes for sale, but I was only a fan of their NY cheesecake variation.

Brocca Café

This warm and bright café is nestled at the corner of a charming cross street in Prenzlauer Berg. You’ll find plenty of vegan options including a variety of cakes, bagels, and granola plates. Their cashew cheese and veggie bagel hit the spot, and I’d like to try the carrot lox one on another visit. I also like their veggie and glass noodle bao bun. Prices are quite fair.

Try: Gemüse Bagel
Gleimstraße 40 | €-€€

ABC - Allan’s Breakfast Club & Wine Bar

This Aussie-inspired brunch spot is the place to be if you're looking for a decadent and boozy brunch. The eggs benny is a good choice, and so is their croque monsieur. Get a side of brioche for extra carby goodness.

Try: Eggs Benedict
Rykestraße 13 | €€€

Bekarei

Bekarei is a peachy spot in P’Berg that sells quality Portuguese and Greek baked goods. Pick from a delectable mix of bread loaves, sandwiches, pastries, cakes, and small bites. My perfect order consists of a sandwich on housemade bread alongside a pastry or two. Their pastel de nata is delish and I especially like their vegan variation, humorously named a pastel de nada. Bring a friend because you’ll want to try everything!

Dunckerstraße 23 | €-€€

Kanaan

Hummus for breakfast? Yes, please! This restaurant combines multi-cultural kitchens and creates a space perfect for everyone, especially hummus lovers and fans of Middle Eastern cuisine. Plus, upon request, any brunch dish can be veganized (and like 90% of the menu is already vegan). They claim to have the best hummus in Berlin, and I think they’ve got an amazing variation! Also, you must try their bread and dips plate.

Last I checked they’re now offering solely weekend brunch for €25 per person. The offer comes with a sharing menu of five appetizers, bread, and a main of your choice.

Try: Bread & Dips, Palestinian Hummus

Benedict

This fanciful NYC-inspired brunch spot is known for their Eggs Benedict specialties. Their prices are steep so I’ve only been once, but I do appreciate that you start your meal with fresh bread and spreads. The drinks are also very tasty, particularly the caffeine bevs.

Göhrener Straße 5 | €€€

44 Brekkie

Each egg drop sandwich comes together so wonderfully: perfectly toasted bread, expertly scrambled eggs, quality cheddar, and secret sauce. You can enjoy the sandwich in its classic style or try it with one of their add-ons. May I recommend their bacon, double cheese, and garlic version?? YUM!

Greifenhagener Straße 17 | €€-€€€

The KaFe

The KaFe is a smaller, modest brunch spot blending Asian flavors with some Western influences. Their menu includes items like bánh mì, breakfast rice bowls, salad bowls, and of course, egg drops. Their egg drops are a standout, bursting with flavor in every bite. I tried the avocado variation and was very happy with it! I’d love to try one of their Asian brekkies next time. Don't miss their creamy iced matcha — it's a 10/10!

Try: Avocado Egg Drop, Creamy Iced Matcha
Kastanienallee 24 | €€-€€€

Kaffee Käthe

Visit Kaffee Käthe for quality brunch in the heart of Kollwitzkiez. With hearty portions, friendly staff, and amazing cakes, it’s hard not to be a fan. It’s the perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon and I’m sure sunny days prove to be just as pleasant. I can especially vouch for their carrot cake and cheesecake, which were rich and moist, but I think I’ll end up ordering a tempting Apfelkuchen next time. Pair it with a rosemary latte, like I did, for the ultimate Kaffee und Kuchen afternoon.

Try: Eggs Benedict mit Lachs, Cheesecake
Kollwitzstraße 38 | €€€

Ewig Freunde

As one of the highest-rated brunch spots in the neighborhood, Ewig Freunde stands strong as a solid brunch spot in the neighborhood. They’re an artsy and homey spot, giving the vibes of ‘classic Berlin’ without overdoing it. Their bagels are on the pricey side, but also moreish and hearty.

Try: Beef Brisket Bagel
Raumerstraße 9 | €€-€€€

Froindlichst

Froindlichst is home to sweet cakes, full breakfast plates, and yummy lunches — all vegan. They offer plates like full English breakfasts, breakfast burgers, chickpea omelettes, and French toast. I’ve tried their Brettfest plate before which offers a little bit of a few of their popular dishes and it was overall okay, I enjoy their lunch plates more though. It’s a bit of a pricier spot, but worth visiting at least once. I’d love to revisit and try their breakfast burger at some point!

House of Do An

House of Do An opened mid-pandemic, but they've quickly grown in popularity in the neighborhood. They're fully vegetarian with many vegan options and serve a mix of Vietnamese and Western breakfast plates. Great if you want a healthy start to the day!

Café KRONE

A stone's throw from Mauerpark, this is hands down one of the coziest places in the neighborhood. Everything is yummy, but The G.O.A.T. egg dish and any of the pancakes take the cake. Their Chai Latte is also very good (I get it with oat milk) and the staff is quite friendly. I’ll admit I haven’t visited since 2019 and their prices have seriously gone up in recent years, but I hope to pop in soon and see how they’re doing.

Oderberger Straße 38 | €€€

Café KRONE

lue.

Lue. is a minimalist and bright breakfast and lunch spot offering bites in Bötzowkiez until 16:00 daily. Their prices are high (the thriftiest plate is €13), but they offer some nice options. Although I wasn’t a big fan of the truffle egg drop sandwich (and I really like Berlin’s egg drop sandwiches) because of how the eggs were cooked and the limited sauce/truffle flavor, their creamy tofu bowl was good. I probably won’t revisit too soon because their food is pricier and I left feeling a tad mixed about the food, but if you happen to be in the neighborhood I think they’re worth a visit. The Thai coffee was sweet and tasty, and the staff was friendly.

Try: Tofu Creme Bowl
Hufelandstraße 18 | €€€

Still On My List:

Le Belfort

This sweet little French café has become quite a well-known spot in a relatively short amount of time. I have not yet visited, but I hope to very soon. Their Croque Monsieur and Eggs en Cocotte look dreamy, and the reviews are incredibly high. I’ll probably end up ordering the Le Terrifortain or ‘Big Brunch Plate’ to try a little bit of everything.

Kollwitzstraße 28

November Brasserie

November is another spot that seems to have gotten popular quickly. Their fanciful Asian fusion brunch menu includes dishes like Japanese omelettes, chicken sandos, and ricotta pancakes. I’m looking forward to visiting.

Husemannstraße 15

Estelle Dining

The food here looks hearty and fresh, and the setting looks lovely. Can’t wait to visit!

Kopenhagener Straße 12A

Love At First Bite

This cutesy spot is all the rage online, I’ll have to try it for myself soon!
