The Best Vegan Pizza in Berlin

The days of Marinara as the only vegan option are long gone. Berlin has become a magnet for talented plant-based chefs, and the proof is in the pizza. Whether you’re craving a flavor combination you’ve never tried before or are just curious to see how dairy-free cheese stacks up, this Berlin vegan pizza guide has you covered.

Al Catzone

I have no idea how I let Al Catzone fly under my radar for so long. This eclectic, fully plant-based Napoli pizzeria offers incredible bites in a you gotta bring your friends so you can try them all kind of way. My friend and I split two pizzas and spent half the meal debating which one was better because we liked both so much. So, although I’m sure everything is good I’ve got to recommend the Ed, which is characterized by pistacchio, pine nut creme, cherry tomatoes, and cardamom, as well as the Dave, which comes topped with a creamy tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami, lightly spicy peppers, grana vegano, basil, and olive oil. It's a creamy, dreamy realness.

For dessert, the vanilla ice cream was a lovely finish, though I’d personally skip the tiramisu next time. I love the snug atmosphere and charming cat theme, too. Reservations are accepted.

Gemello

Scissor-cut pizza with a perfect balance of chewy, fluffy dough and inventive toppings. Plus, everything’s vegan. If you’re a carbonara fan, don’t miss the Sunday, topped with mozzarella, egg yolk sauce, Parmesan, black pepper, and bacon. For something indulgent, the Posh delivers all the richness of a French cheese board, layering sour cream, pickled pear, brie, cranberry jam, walnuts, and sage. Another terrific plate is their Amalfi pizza, served with a heaping load of fresh herbs and lemony pesto.

Each pizza comes with house-pickled vegetables and a savory dip, making for a very immersive, flavorful experience. Can’t decide? The Nano is a great choice, especially for pickle lovers. Beyond pizza, their hearty Caesar salad is delicious — I absolutely love the dressing. It’s honestly hard to go wrong here. Reservations are available.

La Stella Nera

It’s been about four years since my last visit to La Stella Nera. While the pizza was overall solid, the real standout was their vegan tiramisu, which is hands down the best plant-based version I’ve had to date. I’m including them on this list not only because they’re fully vegan, but also because their reviews remain consistently strong, and their pizzas look great on social media, so I think they’ve definitely leveled up their game since my 2021 visit. They’re on my (very long) list of places to revisit soon, and I look forward to it. Reservations are accepted.

Sotto

Sotto is a delightful neighborhood pizza spot, serving up crafty and delectable pizza dishes, all of which are at minimum, vegetarian. About half the menu is fully plant-based, with the vegan pizzas starting at just €6 and going up to €12, making it a great spot to enjoy a nice meal out on a budget. Their outdoor seating gets popular in the warmer months, but you’ll typically always find a spot inside. Be sure to try something with their almond cheese spread. Any of the pizzas can be made with gluten-free dough for €1.50 more. Reservations are available by phone.

Slice Society

Slice Society is a NYC-style pizza-by-the-slice spot that may not seem like an obvious pick for this list since they offer just one vegan variety. Their plant-based slice features a sweet marinara sauce and crispy garlic bread crumbles, creating a balance of crunchy texture and contrasting flavors that blend together surprisingly well. If you’re after a quick, no-fuss, plant-based slice, their vegan garlic bread slice is a seriously tasty option.
