The Best Vegan Döner in Berlin

You can enjoy all the quintessential things about Berlin while still sticking to your plant-based lifestyle. While these days you’ll find a vegan option in most Berlin Döner shops in Berlin — falafel im brot with veggies, no cheese, and spicy sauce is a safe order — certain Döner shops take it one step further and offer fully vegan choices. If you want to have your pick of the menu, while not sacrificing quality, visit one of the following four shops.

Vamos Veganos

For a crispy, hearty Döner, look no further than Vamos Veganos. With soft and chewy bread, homemade sauce, and ample veggies, you’ll be feeling satiated in no time. Their Döner meat is made of crispy, smoked tofu and does a good job of replicating a Döner with a little more browning and bite to it. At €10 a pop, this spot is steeper in price than your average Döner, but the deliciously seasoned result is worth the slight splurge.

Doen Doen Kebap

This place is absolutely killing their Döner game! I particularly like the variety of vegetables they offer, which includes fresh, pickled, and grilled varieties. The combination makes for an absolute flavor bomb, and the paprika tomato, herbal yogurt, and garlic spicy sauces give the meal an extra nice kick. You can choose between kebab or chicken-style meat, staying in line with classic Döner shops that oftentimes offer a beef/lamb and chicken variety.

Zerö Kebab

If you find yourself in and around Rosenthaler Platz, stop by Zerö for their tasty Döner. If their cute branding doesn’t reel you in, the terrific smell and taste should. This filling Döner is just €6, which is a great price for a vegan version and stays in line with the average Döner price these days. The protein is particularly memorable, it’s a softer, more succulent variety, allowing the lettuce and bread to take on the role of the classic Döner crunch. I recommend getting all the sauces for a nice medley of flavors, although the spicy one doesn’t stand out very much.

Vöner

The OG of this list, Vöner was there for us when no one else was. The Döner meat can be a smidge dry for my taste, but the final result is good. One of their perks is their unique sauce variety. Instead of the classic Döner shop garlic, yogurt, and spicy offerings, they can top your Döner with tahini garlic, yogurt herb, chili tomato, or peanut sauces. Yum! They also offer vegan currywurst, allowing you to take a tour of Berlin’s most iconic offerings under one rooftop.
